Christmas Letter from Tyquel Barnes-
Hi. My name is Tyquel Barnes. I’m a 37 year old mother of six kids. Let me introduce my children. I am a single parent of four beautiful children, one girl, Talicia, age 21, and three boys, Tyrrence, Zarius, and Destin, ages 17, 15 and 14. The tragic death of my sister left me as the legal guardian of her two daughters, Larissa, 18 and Sanyi, 7.
We moved into our new Habitat home in 2008 and we have not looked back. This is our 5th Christmas in our home. It has really been a blessing and has truly improved our lives. I had rented all my life. Before we moved into this home the seven of us were crowding into a small three bedroom house, where the rent was much higher than I pay now. With the prayers and kind support and hard work of Habitat for Humanity, my church (Court Street United Methodist), and many friends and family, we were finally able to move into our new home with enough rooms and bathrooms for the seven of us. The picture shows the six kids enjoying our very first Christmas together in our new home, all gathered around our very first Christmas tree, given to us by the generous members and friends of Court Street United Methodist Church.
I thank and praise God daily for Habitat and the work that they do, changing lives- one family and home at a time. Where they build affordable homes for families like mine! MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM COLLINS STREET!
