Members review all applications, review credit reports, conduct home visits to consider substandard housing need, and recommend partner families to the Board of Directors. They meet as needed and conduct the quarterly information meetings.

Members provide support to families as they progress through the Habitat partner family process. A family support member answers the family’s questions and encourages them throughout their time in the program, as well as monitors their progress with sweat equity hours and classroom participation. The relationship continues through the first year of home ownership and hopefully beyond.

Women Build Committee

Women Build Committee gets together to plan and discuss Women Build. The committee is made up of women from all walks of life who all come together to with one common goal – to empower women!

We hope to establish the following committees in our area:
Public Relations & Special Events: The goal of this committee is to be responsible for media relations, website content, newsletter content, signage, public speaking, educational booth events etc. Also provide guidance with hands-on event coordination for: Annual Hero Flag Football game, Shows, Expos, and new event ideas.

Faith Relations Committee -

Faith Relations will be responsible for establishing and managing Hattiesburg Area Habitat for Humanity Faith Relations program to significantly increase participation from local faith partners in support of Habitat’s mission.

This position will be responsible for the recruitment of new faith partners, while providing leadership and support for faith-based coalitions and other existing church relationships that provide funding and volunteers for Habitat home building. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

1. Develop strategies to build and maintain faith community partnerships, including the maintenance of all current partnerships and building new relationships with diverse faith congregations and forming coalitions to support Habitat home building and other program services.

2. Develop relationships with clergy, denominational leadership and volunteer faith committees to expand the capacity of the Faith Relations program.

3. Develop and maintain regular communication tools with faith partners and coalitions, and work with the Development Department to create and maintain marketing materials and partnership tools.

4. Plan and coordinate annual faith-based events and build days.

5. Provide leadership to faith-based coalitions and other faith-based committees.

6. Create and maintain a detailed record of local faith partners as well as prospective faith partners.

7. Serve as primary spokesperson for faith-based events and other speaking engagements.

8. Develop stewardship, recognition, and retention strategies to sustain a growing portfolio of active partners.

9. Coordinate scheduling and work closely with Volunteer Services staff to ensure faith partners are informed about volunteer opportunities and enjoy their on-site experience.

10. Monitor and follow up with faith partners on their fundraising progress.

Members oversee operations and review/revise policies of the ReStore retail facility.

Members oversee development of new House Plans, Draft blueprints, Solicit Gifts-in-Kind from General Contractors, HAVC, Roofing, Sheetrock Contractors.

Members utilize their expertise to determine if property is appropriate for construction of Habitat homes. The committee works in conjunction with the construction committee, and is always looking for and soliciting property.

Committee members focus on developing and monitoring the overall fundraising activities of the affiliate, including: generating corporate sponsorships; identifying new funding sources; recruiting new leaders to assist with events.

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: Chairperson - Laura Goodwin-Wright

Committee members focus on developing and monitoring the overall resources of the affiliate, including: staff and volunteer development, acquisitions and distribution of personnel, materials, and funding, and long term resource planning to ensure the affiliate's ongoing operations.
